In 1995, the community of Cat Lake was fully serviced with a sewer and water system, consisting of a water filtration system and distribution system, as well as a sewage disposal system. Fresh water is drawn from the lake using pumps, which is then filtered using chemicals such as Sternpac and polymer. For disinfection of the filtered water, it is injected with hypochloride just before going into the reservoirs. Highlight pumps then distribute water throughout the system within the community. Water testing is performed periodically, with weekly and monthly samples taken to ensure that the provided water is safe for the community.
